THE NAME GAME
"What's
in a name?" A lot. An organization's name defines in a few words what
the organization is about. It should be applicable to the organization, meaningful,
and catchy.
Last June 2005, ALFI-Youth launched its “Name Game” contest. The
objective of the contest was to come up with a new name for our organization,
one that would better reflect who we are and what we are about. The new name
likewise makes us more distinct from Alliance for the Family Foundation Philippines,
Inc. (ALFI). This distinction will further ensure that our stand and objections
to the anti-family bills, which reflect our unique position of being young
people, are heard loud and clear.
The winner of the contest was Ethel Gina Bailon. Her winning entry, which is our new name effective August 1, 2005, is :
Youth for the Family (Y-FAM)
Ethel received the prize of The Body Shop Peppermint Foot Spray gift pack (includes Peppermint Cooling Foot Lotion, Cooling Pumice Foot Scrub, and Refreshing Foot Spray with Rosemary and Tea Tree Oil).
Great job,
Ethel!
