THE WRITE STUFF

 

We have heard many times that the voice of the youth is very powerful, and that our lawmakers are just waiting to hear from us. The replies we have received from several Congressmen, many of them encouraging, to our ALFI-Youth position paper on HB 3773 are testament to this.

In response to this need to have the voice of the youth heard, last July 9, 2005, Saturday, ALFI-Youth hosted a writing workshop, “The Write Stuff”, at the Narra Youth Club in Las Pinas City. Its aim was to train the workshop participants in writing skills, techniques, and tips to enable them to write articles, essays, and letters more effectively, in such a way that they will be accepted by newspapers and magazines for printing. For each participant, an output at the end of the workshop was a written piece that will be edited and sent to major newspapers and magazines, and which would hopefully see print in the coming days.

The training was be conducted by Ms. Tina Dumlao, a noted journalist and Business Editor with the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
