What
Makes the Youth Tick? I once read a phrase which said, "Youth is wasted on the young." At first glance, the impact of that statement may cause anyone between 13 and 39 (the age range for the so- called “Youth”, according to Pope John Paul II for World Youth Day) to react violently - I tried to act the adult by understanding the context with which the author uttered those words. After a careful investigation,
I found out that the root of the statement is also the biggest challenge
of the 21st century, "ignorance". That's right. Surprise,
surprise! Despite the immediate availability of information, or precisely
because of it, many young people still remain ignorant of life's most
basic facts. Sad to say, the universal definition and the traditional
values associated with forming a family, marriage and love have been
widely distorted. Now they come to mean different things to different
people. This distortion of truths has made inroads not just in our belief
systems but is also reflected in the way we live, treat our neighbors,
spend our free time or plan for the future. |
